The assessment of demographic features of patients treated in public drug-treatment centre in Iran

Abstract

The present study is to determine individual features and narcotic drug samples and its connection with some personal and social variables which is considered as a field study from the methodology aspect and as a descriptive-segmental type from data collection aspect. Statistical population includes narcotic drugs and methamphetamine users of 500 persons by sampling method and data accessing was based on clinical interviews and the client's memoires and files were reported in Public Drug-Treatment Centre in Jooybar, hospital and camp. Data was analyzed by SPSS. Results have shown the narcotic drugs consuming level which included 90.2 percents men and 9.8 percents women from sex distribution aspect in which 55 percents were citizens. Opium had the most consumption rate about 48 percents (12.6 percents opium), (12 percents ice), (10 percents ice and crack), (15 percents opium and crack), opium and cannabis (3 percents each), 1 percent opium and 4 percent heroin. The percentage of opium is much more than cannabis in employed rather than unemployed persons and in contrary, using crack, ice and heroin is much more in unemployed rather than employed. The usage of ice, cannabis and heroin is more in 20 to 30 years old. Opium has the highest usage and then ice and cannabis and cannabis and opium have the highest consumption in the age more than 50. In this area, according to its environmental conditions, the ratio of addicted men with the education of under diploma is more than other areas and the percentage of ice and crack addiction increased by elevating the educational level in 20 to 30 years old.
