Abstract

Emotional Intelligence is the ability to control and manage one's own emotions and the emotions of others whereas moral competency is the measure of the consistency of moral behaviour exhibited by a person. Moral behaviour is the ideal behavioural response to a moral dilemma or moral situation and is influenced by a number of psycho-social, religio-political, biological and environmental factors. Emotional Intelligence is one of the major psycho-social factors studied influencing morality and the emotional traits such as well being, self control, emotionality and sociability are found to be positively correlated with moral competency. The present study conducted on n=260 Indian population infers that there is a positive relation between Emotional Traits and Moral Competency.
