Abstract

This paper evaluates, ranks, and assigns commodities, which are supplied insufficiently in central warehouse and are encounter with shortage. We propose a new methodology based on fuzzy TOPSIS (technique for order preference by similarity to ideal solution) method in a distribution center to rank local warehouses and to assign the commodities with shortage according to their efficiency. Because of the vagueness of the input data in this problem, triangular fuzzy numbers are used. In addition, rectangular distance and a new positive and negative ideal solution are used in this paper. This technique is implemented in Golestan Distribution Company, Iran to evaluate twenty local warehouses in Iran based on a number of criteria for evaluation. Closeness coefficient values verify the ranking order and determine a ratio for commodity assignment every day, which is a vital decision and easy to apply for the supply chain managers in Golestan Distribution Company.
