Abstract

Social exclusion denotes different forms of social disadvantage that people from different sections of individuals or communities face. It is a dynamic processes in which individuals or entire communities of people are systematically deprived of their rights, opportunities and resources that are normally available to other members of society. The main intension of this paper is to analyse the participation of SC, ST and women in MGNREG Programme and measure the interstate variation. The analysis is based on secondary data. The paper has been concluded that, though there are marginal differences among the states, the programme is successful in including SC and ST categories and women in the provision of employment. Interstate differences are more in the case of inclusion of women. However, there is a need to look into the factors influencing the participation of women in MGNREGP in order to effectively include this excluded group also.
