The present study is aimed assessing the welfare measures adopted by various garment industries in and around Bengaluru city. A total of 480 garment workers were randomly selected from 5 garment factories including men and women. They were administered a semi-structured schedule developed by the researcher with the help of experts in the field. The schedule elicited the information on social welfare measures like health and safety, crèche and canteen facilities. Data collection was done in one setting by the researcher for a span of 6 months. Chi-square tests were applied for the responses obtained by the respondents. Results revealed that all the facilities related to health and safety were addressed 100%, including no restriction to use bathroom facilities. Most of crèche and canteen facilities were maintained except for restrictions to workers to leave the child in crèche (79.1%). Majority of the workers (94.6%) mentioned that they were not satisfied with the hygiene conditions of canteen. Lastly, suggestions for improving social welfare measures have been delineated.
