The article under discussion is devoted to the study of verbal and non-verbal means in advertising texts, which is one of the simple and effective ways to convey information to the consumer. The authors dwell upon the linguistic peculiarities of advertising texts, such as lexical, syntactical, and stylistic and others. Other methods of manipulating the minds of potential buyers were also mentioned, including nonverbal means. As the authors consider linguistic analysis is an important tool for studying the language of advertising and, in particular, its manipulative properties. The task of advertising is to arouse the reader's interest, to attract his or her attention, while making full use of the so-called mechanism of purposeful influence, by which we mean the techniques of language manipulation.
