The article analyzes the technological process of honing. When honing parts made of steel and cast iron, such lubricants (coolant) as kerosene or a mixture of kerosene with spindle oil (10-20%) are usually used. When using diamond honing bars, ordinary water is often used as a coolant, to which various (usually synthetic) substances are added to prevent corrosion of the processed part and the machine itself.
