In this paper, special attention is paid to the fact that the terminological signs and features peculiar to the semantic structure of terms are formed through the semantics of the general lexical unit, which is the basis for the formation of the term. It also discusses the relationship between the term and the general lexical unit. The general sema, the distinguishing sema, the basic sema, the common and different features of the term and the lexeme in the semantic structure of the lexeme are analyzed on the example of some geographical terms in Uzbek.
