Influence of ego-strength on physical health among adolescents

Abstract

Ego-strength is a psychological state which play significant role in coping to anxiety provoking cognitive processes and behaviors. Continuously high anxiety developed poor mental health which is adversely affected the people's physical health. The purpose of this study was to explore the relationship between ego-strength and physical health of adolescents. The sample was consisted of N=80 participants. Baron's Ego Strength Scale adopted by Hasan (1974) and Physical Health Scale prepared by Mohammdyfar et al. (2009), were administered to collect the data. The Pearson Product Moment Correlation and Simple Linear Regression were used for data analyses. The findings of this study revealed that, there is significant positive relationship between ego-strength and physical health of adolescents. Further this study indicated that ego-strength positively influenced the physical health of adolescents. This study may have its own practical significance to optimizing physical health of adolescents at large.
