Abstract

This paper deals with the situation of skilled labor in India and how much skilled labor is there to meet the demand for labor in the domestic labor market in the coming years. It also deals with the problem of education which has been given to the students in the country. How much job oriented are these courses and how much practical knowledge is being provided by these courses? It focuses on the need of nurturing the skilled labor in the country. The paper gone through the data available on the education structure and the present situation of labor in our country. In the analysis it is found that there will be a huge shortage of labor in the country if we move at the same growth rate of growth of skilled labor. In my research I studied the data of various organization which deals with the matter of education and labor in the country. The main reason for the shortage of skilled labor is the lack of awareness among the students regarding the practical knowledge and the there is also a lack of efforts done by the authorities at higher level which governs all the educational bodies. Due to this there is a deficiency of skilled labour in India.
