Railways as an agent of development in Jammu and Kashmir

Railway becomes an institution, which played an important role in the socio-economic development of the society. It becomes an agency, which promote development. It lead to employment generation, tourism, pilgrimage, industrial development etc. As a mean of transport, it not only transports goods and people but it connects the world. The introduction of Railway in the State of Jammu and Kashmir played an important role in the socio economic development. As the State is considered an economically backward and due weather situation it remain disconnected from the world, railway proliferation becomes an assets to for the development. The present research paper is going to discuss the role of railway in the socio-economic development of Jammu and Kashmir with special focus on employment, tourism, pilgrimage and social scenario.
