The purpose of this paper is to better the understanding of a key important aspect related to business model innovation that is it's dynamic capability. The paper then explores the applicability to UAE business environment. Our paper thus examines the business model terminology fromit'shistorical development and then provides a theoretical foundation for the business model using the resource-based view and transaction cost economics as its basis. The paper then explores the conditions in which a business model is an attractive and meaningful managerial philosophy pertaining to the UAE environment. Implications for further research are outlined based on our analysis and findings.
This paper investigates research on the dynamic capability related to business model innovation. It identifies key factors associated with the dynamic capabilities of business model innovation and then uses a qualitative, multi-case research design with 3 UAE based organizations to illustrate the relevance of this aspect to the UAE business environment. This paper seeks to contribute toward emerging theory on dynamic capabilities, focusing on identifying the components of dynamic capabilities relevant to business model innovation. Our research takes the position that practices for managing business model innovation are a key component of these capabilities.
A business model innovation should involve more than a simple businessprocess redesign. Continually developing and strengthening the company.s dynamiccapabilities would have a significant impact on executing their Business model
Due to our qualitative research approach, generalizability of our findings is limited.
The description of the business model innovations offers guidance for executives to make their business models financially more sustainable in base-of-the-pyramid markets.
The proposed approach combines insights from multiple theoretical perspectives into an actionable framework for management practitioners.
