This article describes service learning implementation in an undergraduate occupational nursing health promotion practice course.
The reforms in the health service system have necessitated new approaches to be utilized in the education of nursing to prepare for the changing roles of nurses. Service-learning, the learning strategy that students and the community execute together is the most appropriate approach in which community-based learning can be carried out. It entails the collaboration of faculty, beauty salon professional guilds and students getting involved in the work of beauty salons by evaluating their working conditions and providing hygiene training for manicurists-pedicurists. This study discusses the evaluation of the course under consideration, its outcomes and also its obstacles.
SL strategy was useful to develop and present an occupational health education which offers work related to infectious disease prevention on behalf of workplaces.
