Assess The Knowledge on Disaster Preparedness and Family Disaster Kit

Disaster preparedness is the creation of plans through which communities reduce vulnerability to hazards and cope with disasters. A family disaster kit is simply a collection of basic items a household may need in the event of an emergency or disaster.¹

To assess the knowledge on disaster preparedness and family disaster kit among adults and to find the association between knowledge and selected variables.

Descriptive survey design was used to assess the knowledge on disaster preparedness and family disaster kit among adults. Descriptive statistics and Chi-square were used.

The study shows that majority of samples were having average knowledge (85.6%) and knowledge on disaster preparedness and family disaster kit have no significant association with selected variables which was tested at 0.05 level of significance.

This study will further help in creating awareness among the participants and to motivate them to prepare a family disaster kit.
