Abstract

A rapid, simple, selective and precise UV Visible spectrophotometric method has been developed for the determination of Gallic acid in Triphala tablet. The spectrophotometric detection carried out at an absorption maximum of 258 nm using distilled water as solvent. The method was validated for specificity, Linearity, accuracy, precision, robustness and ruggedness. The detector response for the Gallic acid was linear over the selected concentration 5- 25 μg/mL with a correlation coefficient of 0. 995.The accuracy was found to be between 99.1-101.3%. The % RSD for intra and inter day precision was found to be less than 2%. The LOD and LOQ was found to be 0.338μg/mL and 1.03μg/mL, respectively. The results demonstrated that the estimation of Gallic acid in the triphala tablets were found with this method and can be applied for routine analysis.
