Abstract

Phytochemical and toxicological studies was evaluated by Methanol extract of Agave sisalana. The sisal leaf consist of alkaloids, saponins, flavonoids and some cardiac glycosides. Sisal is a primary source of hard fiber of Agave sisalana. The plant leaf is exploited in ayurvedic medicine for the treatment of antimicrobial infections such as Bacterial conjunctivitis, scabies and skin reactions due to the microbial. The sisal portions are extracted separately by reflux at least 12hrs by with the help of HCL solution and methanol to provide the crude sisal residue extract respectively. The study involving in the extract’s phytochemical composition (flavonoids) and evaluating comparative properties like Hemotoxicity as well as cytotoxicity, sometimes the antioxidant and antiglycation activities of the plant extract and cream-gel are evaluated, sisal composed of Catechin and Kaempferol. Sisal extract and its formulations are demonstrated for proven antioxidant and antiglycation property. The cream-gel’s having UVB and UVA protection and very good effectiveness with the HER and it was match same that of synthetic UVB/UVA sunscreen protectants. Significantly it was concluded that the presence of flavonoids and alkaloids in the extract. The plant leaf is having moderate toxicological contains and it could be used in herbal formulations for therapeutic uses. The pesticidal and insecticidal response of extract from the plant is reported. Antimicrobial activity of sisal extracts leaves and leaf marc carried out to evaluate and discarded in the process of obtaining the hard fibers.
