Abstract

A simple spectrophotometric method has been developed for the determination of Lamivudine in bulk and solid dosage form. Lamivudine posses light absorption character in the UV region. The method is based on the measurement of light absorption in the UV region using distilled water. Lamivudine shows maximum absorbance at 271nm. The Beer's law obeyed in the concentration range of 10–60μg/ml. Results are found satisfactory and reproducible. The proposed method is validated with respect to accuracy, precision, linearity and by recovery studies. The method is applied successfully for the estimation of Lamivudine in tablet dosage form without the interference of excipients. The low value of standard deviation and coefficient of variation indicates that the proposed method is accurate, presise and reproducible
