In the present scenario of increasing the role and responsibilities of Grama Panchayats (GPs), it is felt that financial resources received is the form of grants from governments and locally raised taxes (own source of revenue) are inadequate to meet their targets. In this context the present study tries to analyse the financial efficiency of the selected developed and underdeveloped Grama Panchayats in Bangalore Rural and Chamarajanagar districts of the Karnataka state. By using DEA analysis it is found that Grama Panchayats are succeeded in utilisation of funds/grants but at the same time GPs should give more concentrate on implementation of government programmes (for example various housing schemes).
