Distribution channel strategy in marketing of B-Schools: A study of the Indian context

Abstract

The purpose of the present paper is to understand the various aspects of distribution channel strategy- The Brick and Mortar Way, the Partnership Model, the Hub and Spoke Model, Franchise Model Import Model, Export Model and Network Model. It also discusses the role of different distribution strategy to make the B-School truly global. Innovation in distribution of admission forms to pull the talent from different parts of the country/world. The distribution strategy of the institute/B-Schools should be designed in such a way that will make the institute of accessible to all and also change the composition of the students. For the present study, a descriptive research design has been used. The finding is based on large, representative samples of 150 B-Schools(50 B-Schools from each category of A, A and C) as a primary source and with the real life examples of different aspects of distribution strategy of Indian B-Schools from various secondary sources. Number of applications received for the admission is an indication of the wider acceptability of the institutions. Survey results shows that there is a significant relationship between the mode of admission test, admission to the regional students only (government policy), foreign collaboration and categories of the B-School. This research study include mainly two types of management institute i.e. private and grant-in-aid (government) and focus on the ranking like A, B and C. The study does not include the other the various categories of B-Schools like autonomous institute which are not approved by the AICTE, distance education, and various sub categories like A+, A, A-, B+, B, B-, C+, C, C- etc.
