Banking sector in India has gone metamorphosis during the last decade. While banking sector contributed to a great extent in creating a vital infrastructure of the country. The country has passed through the Green revolution and the banks have made a departure for their past neglect of agricultural sector. Today, agriculture is becoming a viable commercial activity due to introduction of scientific methods of cultivation, hybrid seeds, fertilizers and pesticides. So, the major contribution comes from the agricultural sector. In this area the Regional Rural Banks playing very important role in providing the loans to the agricultural sector as well as development of rural sector also. The present study spinout the performance of the RRBs in Karnataka post amalgamation by using various parameters in the area of branch expansion, deposits, credit extension, business per branch, profit per branch, the qualitative performance of recovery and NPA. The study covers for the period of 5 years.
