Abstract

Purchasing has been long considered an important matter in supply chain management and is of abundant significance for planning for profit-making, development, economic saving, and the like for companies. Making decision on purchasing is also difficult for the manufacturing companies in order to achieve their short-term and long-term goals. Moving towards attaining corporate objectives would be possible by setting the corporate goals through adopting purchasing strategies (necessities, merchandise, raw materials, equipment, machinery, etc.). Clustering method has been used in this research for proper decision-making on goods procurement regardless of personal views for classification of the parts and specifying strategies based on such clusters. This is of great importance for a manufacturing company in order to achieve its goals and improve the products quality. To this end, six factors have been considered for clustering a product parts and components. The items are, then, clustered by subtractive clustering method and four purchasing strategies are, finally, chosen accompanied with training the relevant model for each class.
