Working Capital is an essential element for smooth running of any business. Working capital is the difference between the current assets and its current liabilities. The objective of this study isto analyze the changes in working capital for the top six firms in shipping industry with a detailed analysis of working capital management in HSL. The scope of this study is for the financial year 2011–2017. The detailed analysis of working capital management of Hindustan Shipyard Limited is presented. In the company analysis it is found that the performance of HSL is in decreasing trend when compared with previous years. From the industry analysis it is found that working capital management of Cochin Shipyard is better than the other companies which are compared.
