Synthesis of glycosylated-1, 2, 4-thiadiazolidines as potent antimicrobial agents

Abstract

A series of 4-aryl-2-β-D-glycosyl-3-oxo-5-o-tolylimino-1, 2, 4-thiadiazolidines have been prepared by the interaction of 1-β-D-glycosyl-3-aryl carbamides with N-o-tolyl-S-chloro isothiocarbamoyl chloride. The newly synthesized compounds have been characterized through usual chemical transformations and IR, 1H NMR and Mass spectral studies. The polarimetric study of the title compounds have been carried out. The newly synthesized compounds were screened for their in vitro antimicrobial activities using standard cup plate method. The title compounds exhibited mild to moderate antimicrobial activities.
