A radical or free radical can be defined as an atom or group of atoms that possess one or more unpaired electrons. They are necessary intermediates generated in a variety of biochemical reactions which are of inevitable in aerobic life. They can also cause a negative impact on a broad range of macromolecules when generated in excess or not appropriately controlled. Their hyper activities explain their role in normal biological activities as well as inflict damage on cells and subsequent diseases.
