Abstract

Molybdate conversion coatings (MCC) were formed directly on aluminium by simple chemical immersion method at various time intervals, temperatures from various bath composition. The influence of process parameters such as temperature, immersion time and concentration of the corrosion resistance behaviour and surface morphology was studied. The corrosion resistance behaviour was studied by Tafel polarization and Electrochemical Impedance Spectroscopy. The surface morphology of the coatings has been analyzed by Scanning Electron Microscope. The elemental compositions of the coatings are analyzed by Energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDX).
