An antifeedant saponin has been isolated from the seeds of Barringtonia asiatica and its structure elucidated mainly by two dimensional NMR spectroscopy to be 3-O-{[β-D-glucopyranosyl(l→3)-β-D-galactopyranosyl(l→2)]-β-D-glucuronopyranosyloxy}-22-O-[2-methylbutyroyloxy]-16, 28-dihydroxy-(3β, 16α,22α)-Olean-12-ene.
