Abstract

This work was designed to check the physicochemical parameters like pH, Electrical Conductivity, TS, Total Hardness, Ca, Na, K, Ba and Sulfates using the Standard Methods of APHA. Samples from different drinking water sources including Hand pumps, Springs, Wells, Lacks and Tube wells were collected from Tehsil Mir Ali, North Waziristan Agency, at the sampling points of Eppi, Kurta, Hanzer, Naser Khel, Ketval, Ali Khel and Haider Khel. The results of parameters showed variations from the WHO/Pakistan standard values for drinking water. The results indicated that most of the samples were contaminated either due to one or more reasons. So following the results, it is concluded that the quality of drinking water in this area is worse. This implies that the Consumers are at risk and it is suggested that only treated water should be used for drinking purposes. Among the various sources, wells and tanks were highly polluted while tube wells were found to be the most suitable source for drinking water.
