Two simple and sensitive visible spectrophotometric methods (M1,M2) are developed for estimation of Rizatriptan (RZT) in bulk and dosage forms. They are based on the formation of colored species with Sodium Nitro prusside-Acetaldehyde (SNP-ACD, Method M1) and Cobalt thiocyanate (CTC, Method M2) reagents exhibiting maximum absorption at 560 nm and 635 nm respectively. Methods M1, M2 obeyed Beer's law limits in the range of 0.52.5□g/ml(M1) and 0.5–2.5□g/ml(M2) respectively and are statistically validated. The proposed methods are selective, simple and economical for the quantitative determination of Rizatriptan.
