Phytochemical investigation was doneon the roots of Girardinia heterophylla found in the Mussoorie hills of Uttarakhand (India). The separations of compounds were carried out by using chromatographic techniques and the structures of compounds were elucidated by spectroscopic methods. Onecompound isolated having code number-GHRETDand it was identified as 7-β-hydroxy-β-sitosterol.
