Two new rapid, simple, sensitive reproducible and economical spectrophotometric methods are described for the determination of Candesartan cilexetil (CDC) in bulk form. Both methods are based on the formation of colored complexes due to the action of Tropaeoline ooo (TPooo) and Alizarine Red S (ARS) on CDC in alcoholic medium. Under optimized conditions, they show an absorption maxima at 495nm (TPooo) and 450nm (ARS), with molar absorptivities of 1.390 x 104 and 1.688 x 104 mole−cm− and sand ells sensitivities of 0.01435 and 0.05252 per 0.001 absorbance unit for TPooo and ARS, respectively. The color is stable for 5 min after extraction. In both cases Beers law is obeyed between 4.0–24.0 μg/ml. The proposed method was successfully extended to bulk and Pharmaceutical dosage forms.
