Abstract

The article is aimed to synthesize, characterize and screen the biological activity of a series of N-(((5-(3-chloro-2-oxo-4-(4-(trifluoromethyl)phenyl)azetidin-1-yl)quinolin-8-yl)oxy)methyl)substitutedcarboxamide (4a-e)/N-(((5-(4-oxo-2-(4-(trifluoromethyl)phenyl) thiazolidin-3-yl)quinolin-8-yl)oxy)methyl)substitutedcarboxamide (5a-e)/N-(((5-(5-(4-(trifluoromethyl)phenyl)-1H-tetrazol-1-yl)quinolin-8-yl)oxy)methyl)substituted-1-carboxamide (6a-e).

The newly synthesized compounds were characterized by elemental analysis and IR, 1H-NMR, 13C NMR and Mass spectral data. The antimicrobial activity of the novel compounds was screened by agar disc diffusion method.

4b, 4c, 5b, 6b and 6c have shown better antibacterial and anti fungal activity than other compounds of the series.
