Metal Catalyzed Oxidation of L-Isoleucine by Alkaline KMnO4: A Kinetic and Comparative Study

Abstract

Metal catalysed oxidation of L-Isoleucine by Potassium permangate in highly basic medium were studied spectrophotometrically over the range 25< t< 35°C, I= 0.5, 2x10−4 < oxidant < 10x−4, 1x10−7< catalyst< 5x107.The reaction is 1st order with respect to the oxidant, substrate and catalyst. The activation parameters were calculated, compared and tabulated.
