Fungi regulate their metabolism according to environmental nutrient availability through elaborate transcription regulatory programs. The evolution of multicellular eukaryotes improved the dimensions and complexity of organisms, allowing them to exploit the terrestrial habitat. Fungi first advanced water however made the transition to the land through the development of specialized structures that prevented they’re drying out.
