To Formulate and evaluate polyherbal toothpaste with neem, fenugreek, pomegranate peel extracts, for anti-inflammatory and anti-bacterial effects.
Extract of polyherbal formulations were prepared using methanol. Standard cultures of staphylococcus aureus and candida albicans, gram positive were used for the study. The antibacterial test used was the agar well diffusion method. Anti-inflammatory effect of polyherbal toothpaste was determined by protein denaturation method. Also evaluation parameters like foamability, spreadability, pH and other tests were performed and are compared with marketed herbal formulations.
The methanol extract of polyherbal formulation showed maximum activity against staphylococcus and candida Albicans. Evaluation parameters were conducted on poly herbal formulation and shown in tables.
The results of the study support the traditional application of the medicinal plants and suggest that various herbs which were used in polyherbal formulation possess antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties and this polyherbal toothpaste developed can be utilized to prevent various dental diseases.
