Thematic Treatment of OMG 2: An Analytical Study

Sex education has been and it still is a big taboo in traditional as well as modern Indian society. Children are prohibited to talk about such issues with their parents or elder siblings. Schools provide curriculum based education which has no scope for sex education. The bewildered teenagers are left at their own mercy. Many a times, they fall astray or misguided by their companions who also know little about physical changes taking place in the beginning of teenage. The question arises if parents, teachers and society do not provide teenagers the sort of education needed to them then to whom they should approach. The film OMG 2 is based on the million dolor question about ways and means of providing sex education to teenagers. Though it does not advocate sex education to be taught in schools but it certainly makes one think how to provide this much needed education to pupils. The critics regard the film as a thought provoking theme and it is one of the must-watch films. This study tries to look into the thematic aspect of the film and tries to understand the need and necessity of making such films as well as the means and methods of providing sex education.
