Agro based industries - a panacea for Indian agriculture

India is basically an agrarian economy but the performance of agriculture sector is not very remarkable due to obvious reasons like seasonal nature, low productivity etc. Though agriculture caters to the needs of more than half a billion population of the country (in terms of employment), yet the productivity of crops is low in relation to other countries. At this juncture, agro industries are seen as an important link between agriculture and industry which can solve inherent problems prevailing in the Indian agriculture. However, the development of agro based industries in an unreasonable manner will not offer any solution to the problem. This study is carried out to find out the proximity of different agro based industries to different states in the country.
