Abstract

Poverty is an economic as well as social phenomenon hence the tools to deal with poverty must inculcate socio-economic tilt. Self-help Groups are plugged with all possibilities regarding this tilt. This study relates the existence of Self-help Groups as a poverty eliminating tool. It is an attempt to check the viability of Self-help Groups in poverty reduction in Uttar Pradesh. This is a unique study with its district level application. Results are highly argumentative and present a challenge in its implementation.
