Abstract

Mass Media is a part of development process. Development communication is a communication used for the development of human beings. Both Print and Electronic media play a significant role in the development communication of any country. In India, the Government uses print media to secure wide coverage of messages through various newspapers and journals. Traditional Folk media also plays a significant role in the development communication. This paper discusses the media trends in India in a historical context, Globalization effects, highlights the issues being debated and describes the responses of NGOs and development agencies to the changes and the new opportunities they present and how the media has taken development communication as a social responsibility. The methodology of the paper is descriptive and explorative nature.
