Abstract

The current study examined the joint effects of relationship between parents and child with reference to its academic performance. The students of higher secondary from Anand city, Gujarat (N = 205) were assessed before final exams. This study basically focuses on how parents divert their child on the path of education. For the diversion on the way of education various good and bad steps are taken by parents, good steps include to treat the child with the way of love and encourage them by providing sufficient food to grow like authoritative parenting, bad step include a punishment (Frightens or threatens) i.e. cut down pocket money. This all kinds of steps are taken by parents for the betterment of their child future. Both the steps help directly or indirectly in the process of socialization, due to these kinds of steps taken by parents, child learns various things and due to background of that learning child prepares him/her self for a bright future.
