The Open Market sale (OMS) operation is a crucial transfer payment of Bangladesh government to the target people for reducing income inequality and to bring stability in food price. The study shows the significance of OMS for the context of Bangladesh. Though the program seems to be an important initiative from the government end but it creeps with some inefficiencies from the supply side. The demand side analysis helps to judge the program and meticulously identifies the loopholes of the supply side. The analysis found that the supply provision is not meeting the increasing demand of the consumers and also to some extent not responding to the preferences of the consumers. The study analyzed the view from the supply side by incorporating the various hands of the supply chain. It covered the administrative, monitoring and dealer level suppliers in its calculation. The study recommends some policy prescriptions advocated by both the government, and the consumers, so that it can meet the growing need and quality preference of the consumers.
