Perception of Women SHGS & Non-SHGS towards Girl Child Education in Jammu (J&K)

The education of a girl child in a poor Indian household depends largely on the attitude of her mother. Often social and cultural barriers inhibit poor families to send their daughters to school or put a sincere effort towards educating them. The attitude of poor women is shaped by the exposure they get out of their households, their awareness and education level. SHG women have a better standing in these terms and this is reflected in higher education levels of their daughters and lower disparity between boy and girl child education in their families than that of Non-SHG women.
