The Quality of Knowledge Management Processes in Public and Private Universities of Iran

The current research aims to investigate and compare knowledge management processes (knowledge creation, capture, organization, storage, dissemination and application) based on Lawsen's (2003) model in the two biggest universities of Iran which are Payame Noor Universty, Mashhad Center and Islamic Azad University, Mashhad Branch. The target population of the research is consisting of all faculty members in these two universities (N=1059). Sample size was estimated about 285 people based on Morgan's table. A questionnaire, which was applied Lassen's theory, was used to assemble needed data, and SPSS software was utilized to analyze the data. The results showed that in both universities, knowledge creation process in both universities was at a satisfactory level; knowledge capture was at average level; knowledge storage and knowledge organization were at unsatisfactory level; and the processes of knowledge transfer and application were more satisfactory in Islamic Azad University in comparison to Payame Noor University.
