Abstract

HIV/AIDS is growing at alarming rate in N.E. India and particularly in Golaghat district of Assam. This paper will make a humble attempt at identifying the factors that have contributed to the rise of HIV/AIDS prevalence in NE India and Golaghat District in particular. Attempts will also be made to analyze the various routes of transmission of HIV infection to Golaghat District. Further it will try to analyze the age –sex distribution and occupational pattern of HIV+ in Golaghat District on the basis of Integrated Couselling and Testing Center of Kushal Kunwar Civil Hospital in Golaghat.
