Engineering Colleges and Universities are growing at a tremendous pace in India and more and more students have been enrolling themselves in these colleges. The increase in number of colleges and the enrollment rates should be equally followed by the quality of teachers in technological institutions. The present study was conducted to understand the effectiveness of engineering teacher training programmes and is based on the feedback of teacher trainees who underwent two short-term faculty development programmes in Instructional Design and Delivery System (pedagogy).
A Qualitative research tool was administered at the end of the training period on 80 engineering college teachers on completion of the training programmes on Pedagogy. Teachers gave their views on various aspects of the training programmes with regards to content, duration, relevance and usefulness. The findings reveal that the teachers understood the importance of the training and showed special interests to know more in the areas of learner characteristics, student motivation, teaching skills, instructional planning and teaching learning process.
