Birbhum, the well known backward district of West Bengal, rich in diversified resource base is basically controlled by the vast physiographic variation. People engaged themselves in different types of economic activities in accordance with the local resource base, which create east-west disparity in the district. An attempt has been made in this paper to disclose this disparity in respect of space and time.
