The term ‘labour’ gives us a picture of toiling painstaking hard working person whose rights as a human entity are often unattended inspite of several legislation and if the term is associated with the ‘child’ then obviously it gives a gruesome picture.
In this study the researcher has initially seek to enquire the cause or root of the problem of child labour in India. Even there is no proper record of the number of child labours we now have in India. Whether the legislations specially The Child Labour (Prohibition and Regulation) Act 1986 are adequate to solve the problem? Is there any positive role of the Governments which can truly held the innocent child from this gruesome reality? How far the international Human Right documents/covenants/protocol can play a positive role to this effect?
The study tries to give some practical and logical solutions to lessen the burden of labour and in this regard how far the governments can take initiatives to control and reduce the growing number of child labours in India. From this research paper it can be well understood that the problem of child labour is the manifestations of certain other greater problems already existing in the society; therefore, the study concludes on the note that it may not be possible to eradicate the problem of child labours from India, though it can be reasonably reduce.
