Abstract

The recent trend and various scholars’ research on emotional intelligence paved a way to revisit on the concept of emotional intelligence. This study helps us to understand the concepts of emotional intelligence and its history. The history of emotional intelligence gave us an idea about the authors and their research on EI with various organization variables related with work outcomes. The construct of EI was developed by various authors and that was differentiated into ability model of EI and mixed model. This study discusses the constructs of EI and also tried to explore association between EI and organization outcomes such as individual performance, team effectiveness, organization commitment, organization performance, individual well-being, and self-motivation. This study is purely conceptual type based on the sources collected from various national and international journals. It gives an overview of emotional intelligence and its concepts.
