A critical study on feminism in the context of women writers

Indian women novelists writing in English attempt to project women as the central figure and seem to succeed most effectively. The work of woman writers has given a distinct dimension to the image of woman in the family and society. The problems of woman have been raised in works of many Indians writing in English: R.K Narayan, Bhabani Bhattacharya, Kamala Das, Nayantara Sahgal, Anita Desai, Shashi Deshpanda, Namita Gokhale, Shobha Dc and Arundhati Roy-are few of the prominent names in this field. An analysis of the novels by Indian Women novelists with a feminist view reveals that these novelists have written with immense concern and understanding for their female characters. The hidden and suppressed world of Indian women comes to full light in these novels. Indian feminine sensibility can be fully felt by reading these novels.
