Punjab is situated in northwest of India. It has total 50362 sq. km. area divided into 48265 sq. km. rural and 2097 sq.km urban area. This state offers a large number of places having tourist interest and perfect destination for those people who are interested in spirituality, culture and ancient civilization. Further, Punjab is also popular for its festivals, fair and wet land. Though large number of tourist places is there in Punjab but the pace of tourism growth is very slow. To study the growth of tourism industry and strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats of tourism industry in Punjab, this research paper has been planned.
