Abstract

Computer is one of the newest technological inventions of the modern age. In this research, we ask one question: “what is the understanding of computer in Iranian public media discourse?” More specifically How Iranian media have represent computer?

For answer to questions, we refer to Jeffrey Alexander‘s theories to develop the theoretical framework. Then we use the written sources and documents. (Irrespective of they are fact or not). In fact, we tried to collect data about computers in the newspapers and magazines from 2006 to 2013 AD in Iran.

The process of data analysis show that over time, symbols, codes, and narratives move from good representation to evil representation. For example, at the beginning of 2006 more performances have reported on new innovations and inventions or knowledge about computers. But after that and over time the performances have reported the impact of computers on health and especially cyber security.
